General Operating Fund (or Mission Fund): This is the general fund for the mission and ministry of St. George’s Episcopal Church. This is what we need to operate and do Kingdom work on a daily basis. This includes staff salary and benefits, utility bills, etc. as well as direct outreach budget, worship budget, etc. How is the building missional? This space is used by outside groups, such Alcoholics Anonymous and NAR-ANON (Narcotics Anonymous Family Group) on a weekly basis, and the Michigan Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous Planning Meeting once a month until the 2017 event in November. This is also the space where we meet to worship and to plan other ministry efforts. This fund is financed by your planned giving and the budget is based on the Estimates of Giving that we receive on Consecration Sunday and your subsequent regular offerings.
Building Fund: This is a fund that can be contributed to in addition to the planned giving for the General Operating Fund and is used to subsidize the General Operating Budget for expenses related to the general maintenance of the property (utility bills, general maintenance on appliances, lawn care, snow removal, etc.).
Capital Improvements Fund: This is a fund that can be contributed to in addition to the planned giving for the General Operating Fund and is a fund designated to major capital improvements to the facility (at this time it is designated solely for the purposes of replacing the sewer pipe, boiler, and roof).
Priest’s Discretionary Fund: This is a fund that can be contributed to in addition to the planned giving for the General Operating Fund for the purposes of the priest providing financial relief and assistance to those in need at his discretion. Checks made out to the Priest’s Discretionary Fund, food only gift cards from Milford Grocery, and fuel only gift cards from Speedway are graciously accepted.
Endowment Fund: This is a fund that can be contributed to in addition to the planned giving for the General Operating Fund, the interest earnings being available to be used for (in this order): 1) maintenance and capital improvements, 2) mission outreach projects, and 3) purposes defined in any written documents which are part of endowment gifts given to the church. This is the most appropriate fund for memorial gifts and bequests to be left with the church in the planning of one’s estate.
