Sunday Morning Formation
Sunday Mornings from 9:15am - 10am (between services).
September 15th - December 15th (14 sessions)
Many people in our congregation are relatively new to the Episcopal Church and there are also life-long members who do not know our roots in the classical Anglicanism of the English Reformation. What does it mean to be both Catholic and Reformed? What makes Anglicans similar to and different from Roman Catholics and Protestants? We will explore this together each week by following the blog series from Young Peoples’ Theology on the 39 Articles of Religion. This will be an opportunity to read fresh perspectives from diverse Episcopalian voices on the theological ideals from which we grew. Part of fully knowing who we are now is to better understand and appreciate our origins.
Tuesday Mornings. Our daytime Bible Study Group meets most Tuesday at 11:30am.
Develop a deeper understanding of the Bible and grow in your relationship with God. Topics vary throughout the year and it is not necessary to come every week. Visitors are encouraged and welcome to bring their insight and questions.
The Money Course
Wednesdays from 6:30 - 9pm
January 29, February 5 and 12 (3 sessions)
It is hard to grow in faith and total trust in Jesus when bound by the shackles of financial anxiety and insecurity. The Money Course is a free class that comes from Holy Trinity, Brompton in the Church of England (the creators of the Alpha Course) in order to help set people free from that bondage. St. George’s will provide a free meal, free child care, and free materials for anyone in the congregation or wider community who comes to participate in this three week class, which we will be offering quarterly. Come on a Wednesday evening, enjoy food and fellowship, and get a better understanding of your finances: your emotional relationship with money, budgeting, debt, life balance, etc.
To sign up for the Money Course contact the office at 248-684-0495
New Member Class
Sundays from 12:30 - 2pm
December 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd (4 sessions total)
Are you new to St. George’s or even to the Episcopal Church? Are you a long-time member, but feeling disconnected from the community and unsure how to get involved? Participate in our New Member Class. Consider this an orientation to life in an Episcopal parish generally and St. George’s particularly. This class will meet on Sunday afternoons over lunch for four sessions where we will learn about each other, our faith, Anglicanism and the Episcopal Church, and our parish’s history and congregational life. Have you been here for a few years but wish there was an opportunity like this when you first came? Please participate in this class as it is still for you. We will offer the New Member Class as frequently as becomes necessary, up to once per quarter.
Sunday School & Nursery
Sunday School aged children (5-11) are off for the summer. Activity packs are available on request.
Our Nursery is located off Parish Hall and is staffed by one paid nursery attendant and/or one volunteer parent. We offer infant and toddler care up to 4 years old year round (on most Sundays).
At Saint George's we want all families to feel comfortable. This is why we also offer other options if you wish not to use our Nursery. The Soft Space is located in the back or our worship space or nave. We also have a Cry/Noisy Area in Parish Hall.
Our Youth Group is for Junior High & High School aged youth. We are currently looking for leaders to plan and lead activities for our Youth Group.
