AUGUST NEWS OF THE PARISH FAMILY:

CONGRATULATIONS TO:

 Jeanne C who celebrates her 90th birthday on August 18th!

 

Jessica R and Matt K on purchasing their first home!

 

Wade and Samantha Don their recent marriage.  Wade is the son of Donna F.

 

Sean C and Ryan M, who recently graduated from Milford High School.

 

Guy and Anne B who celebrated their first wedding anniversary on July 17th and Guy’s 71st birthday on July 18th.

 

Former parishioners (now living in Dallas, Texas) Mark and Stephanie D on the birth of their daughter Alexandria Lin on June 6th.  Alexandria Lin is the granddaughter of Lynn D and niece of Laurie G and Kristie I. 

 

TRAVELING

 

Kelly S is back from a trip with her mom to Pennsylvania and is now at Blue Lake Camp up north working on her skills as an actress.

 

Lenore H is on her bi-annual five week “Teaching Mission” to China visiting students involved in the China Education program she directs and teaching English to Chinese English teachers there.  If you would like to know more about the program, call her husband Bob S.

 

Felicia R, her daughters Keerthena and Sunaina, and her mother Florence, are presently in India visiting family.  Felicia’s Father Sugunakumar Samuel Raj recently left us and has moved to the “Loop” in Chicago to be near his son and Felicia’s brother.  Isaac’s mother recently visited her son and family here.

 

Sean W has just left with son Teague to drive up with him to Ketchikan, Alaska where Teague will be teaching English at the University there.  He recently received his Masters Degree from Northern Michigan.  He will be living near his sister, Kimberly who has lived there for many years.  Good Paddling Teague!

 

Kirk and Kristan L, Walt and Laura D’s’s son-in-law and daughter, are visiting for 5 weeks this summer in a Seminary near Capetown, South Africa.  The trip was over 15 hours by plane. Word has been received from them via e-mail that this week they visited a elephant sanctuary with over 150 elephants.  Kirk is a theological student at the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

 

Curt and son Joseph B are back from their recent fishing trip to Canada. While fishing wise the word was “not too many,” still a good time was had by both!

 

Elizabeth N recently had an Alma College friend and fellow librarian from Manassas, Virginia visiting in church.

Thanks too to Chris L for seeing that our weekly food contributions get over to Community Sharing.

 

Cathy B for her efforts providing pastoral care at “Canterbury on the Lake” Senior Facility in Waterford.

 

Jack and Nancy P, Ed and Deb C, Sandy and James S and Ruth and Ken H for their faithful work as tellers.

 

Fred and Beverly K for entertaining the ECW at their Lake Home on July 16th.

 

 Lisa and David D for their work on the “Backpack Project” which will gather school supplies for kids in need at Huron Valley Schools. 

 

John N who faithfully has been doing the Treasurer’s Books here for many years and to Sandra Ka who is now helping him.

 

Judy M who has developed a list of goods and services that we parishioners can provide.  The list can be seen elsewhere on this website!

 

Carl M who is helping with a project to increase the involvement of our men in the church!

 

Ed C who took pictures of our parish Vestry to put on our entryway bulletin board.

 

Fred R and all who were involved in updating our woman’s bathroom.  (A complete list is in Fred’s article elsewhere in this newsletter.)

 IN OUR PRAYERS

 

Guy B is recovering from lung surgery at Botsford Hospital and hopes to go home soon.

 

Eileen H is moving up on the Liver Transplant list.  Her son John and family are coming to visit from California later this month.

 

Bill F who fainted in church recently is doing much better and was back in church and at Soup and Scripture this past week.

 

Joan B who has been ailing some of late felt well enough to head north to the U.P. to Newberry for her family “Women’s Outing” for the summer.

 

Betty S is home and doing better.  She thanks the parish family for their prayers.

 

Ken H is recovering well from recent shoulder surgery.

 

Megan M is home after a brief respite at Huron Valley Hospital.

 

Becky F is back in the office working away.  Please keep her and hubby Mike in your prayers.

 

Vicki L, daughter-in-law to Judy is doing much better at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Pontiac. 

 

Judy L recently lost her dog, “Precious.”  Precious was a part of our “Blessing of Pets” for many years.

 

Rick and Erica R are expecting in September and Erica is doing well.

 

Mike and Jacqueline H are also expecting and Jacqueline is doing well.

 

Shirley R is recovering from the ankle she broke rather badly near Nashville.  She hopes to be out of the wheelchair soon!
