Sunday Bulletin Announcements

For Sunday, February 5:

Sunday February 5th is ‘Sign-up Sunday’.
You are asked to contribute your time and talent to the liturgical ministries of the parish.  Sign-up sheets will be on the table in front of the ‘white board’ in Parish Hall.  Please sign-up for ministries that INTEREST you.  Training will be provided for each ministry.  After the training you can decide if you want to commit.  For a listing of all liturgical ministries see the Feb/March newsletter on our website.

Please join us February 19th after the 10:30am Eucharist for Adult Faith Development: the Discipleship Series (6 parts).
Plan on the presentations to begin after 15 minutes of fellowship.  Each segment is on Discipleship and will last 45 minutes.  Each Sunday in Lent will explore one of the six major areas Jesus taught us to follow.

Are you interested
in singing in a combined choir at our combined Episcopal, Presbyterian & Methodist Good Friday Service at 1pm?  You do not need to be in our choir to join!  Notify our office.

Ladies of the Knight is celebrating Mardi Gras
with a dinner out.  Join us on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:45pm at Hector & Jimmy’s (Milford).  H & J has a great menu and Tuesday is ‘$5.00 Burger and Fries’ day.  The Ladies of the Knight is a social group of parishioners who enjoy fun and fellowship and is open to ALL LADIES in our parish.  At this meeting we will be discussing what to do at our April meeting so please come with some ideas.  RSVP to Sandy Scott (248-684-6586) by February 19th.

This year, the ‘Becoming the Household of God’ conference focuses on Transforming Worship
.  An event schedule and description is posted on the bulletin board by the office door.  This event takes place on Saturday, February 25th from 8am – 5pm and costs $40 (if registered before February 6th).  If you are interested in attending please contact Michelle in the office.

Have you given your birthday to Michelle yet?
There is a list of parishioners whose birthday’s we are missing.  This list is located on the entryway table.  If your name is on this list, please provide us with your birthday.  If you are not sure, please call Michelle in the office.  Each Sunday we pray for all parishioners who have a birthday in the upcoming week.

We need coffee hour hosts in March & April.
If you can help out, please sign up on the coffee hour calendar in Parish Hall.  If anyone has a blank 2012 calendar that we could use to schedule our coffee hours, please call Michelle in the office.

For many years prayers of healing for individuals have been an important ministry at St. George’s. Special healing prayers for mind, body, and spirit are offered on the first Wednesday of the month. We use the Healing Liturgy from the Episcopal Book of Occasional Services. We welcome anyone to be part of these services. Currently, Elizabeth LaMoreaux, Wendy Loncar, and Jim Pashturro are offering healing and thanksgiving prayers. Your request can be for yourself or another person(s). We are now using the healing sermons given by Eileen Herbst during her time conducting these services. The next service will be Wednesday, February 1st, with a pot-luck dinner at 6:30pm. We’d love to have you join us for food and fellowship, or just come at 7:30pm. Please call Tom Herbst at 248-613-9672, or Liz LaMoreaux at 248-685-0413 if you have any questions.

Every week we collect food, detergent, paper products, diapers and personal products for local families in need. These are delivered monthly to Community Sharing. If you can, please bring an item or two in each week to place in the box in the entryway. There is a Pet Pantry there too, so bring in some pet food or litter to help families keep their pets at home during these hard times.
